Privacy policy.

A clear explanation of the information we collect, why we use it, and the choices you have.

Effective October 10, 2026 · Updated for optional SAT scores and website analytics

1. Who we are and what this covers

Fatimah’s Guide is a college mentorship program operated by Fatimah Hussain. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Fatimah Hussain operating as Fatimah’s Guide. Contact us at fatimahhussain@berkeley.edu.

This policy covers this mentorship website, its info-session and consultation forms, and related enquiries. It does not cover the separate practices of social platforms or other websites you visit through our links. If an enrolled service introduces different information collection, we will provide the relevant notice before collecting that information.

2. What we collect

When you submit an info-session or consultation request, we collect:

  • Your name and email address.
  • Whether you are a student or a parent or guardian, and whether the enquiry concerns a student under 13 or age 13 and older. For enquiries about students age 13 and older, we also collect the student’s grade.
  • Your request type. Enquiries about students age 13 and older may also include a mentor preference and an optional question. Consultation requests also collect your chosen service or “Help me choose” preference and, if you provide it, the student’s SAT score to compare with our 1450+ recommendation. They may include optional selections about the support you would like. These fields are not collected in the under-13 parent enquiry form.
  • Your email permissions, including whether you used the combined consultation-and-updates checkbox or separate info-session choices, the relevant session, consent versions, and submission time. For an under-13 enquiry, we also record your confirmation that you are a parent or guardian using your own contact details.

Older consultation requests may also include a mentorship-duration confirmation and the version shown when it was submitted. New requests do not collect this confirmation.

If you email us, we also receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send. Please leave out Social Security numbers, passwords, payment details, medical information, and sensitive financial documents. Our signup form does not request payment information or document uploads.

When you visit, our hosting provider may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, request times, and security or error logs. This supports delivery, reliability, and protection of the website.

3. How we use your information

We use request details to respond to your questions, manage the info-session interest list, arrange a consultation, understand the support you are looking for, and discuss a potential mentor match. We also use limited information to prevent duplicate requests, protect the site from misuse, and keep a record of your communication preferences.

The consultation form uses one checkbox to request emails about your consultation and college guides, program news, and offers from Fatimah’s Guide. The info-session form keeps a separate, optional checkbox for college guides, program news, and offers. This change does not expand permissions given with an earlier submission. If you only want to discuss an enquiry, you can contact us directly by email. For an under-13 enquiry, any emails go to the parent or guardian’s own address. You can withdraw marketing permission through the unsubscribe option in a marketing email or by emailing us. You can also ask us to stop request-related follow-up.

Submitting a request does not book an appointment, enroll you in the program, or guarantee a mentor match.

4. Who can access your information

Request details are available to the Fatimah’s Guide team members who handle enquiries and program administration. We use service providers to operate the website and communicate with you:

  • Vercel: hosts the website and provides private storage for form submissions. Your request is not publicly available.
  • Instagram and TikTok: provide optional video players. We connect to the selected platform only after you choose a video. The platform may receive your IP address, browser and device details, and information about your interaction with its player, and may use cookies or other storage under its own privacy policy. We do not send it your form answers. See Instagram’s privacy policy and TikTok’s privacy policy.
  • Kit: manages newsletter subscriptions. When you request newsletter updates through a new consultation submission, we send Kit your email address and first name and label the subscription as coming from a mentorship consultation. Your grade, age range, SAT score, chosen service, mentor preference, support selections, and written answers stay in our private enquiry records and are not sent to Kit. Existing unsubscribe and suppression preferences are respected. Kit processes subscriptions, newsletter delivery, and related engagement under Kit’s privacy policy.
  • Resend: sends consultation request notifications to our team. These notifications include your contact details and the enquiry details you chose to submit so we can follow up. Under-13 enquiry notifications use only the parent or guardian’s contact details and enquiry type. Resend processes message delivery under Resend’s privacy policy.
  • Email providers: process and store messages in our team inbox when a request notification arrives, when you contact us, or when we follow up with you.
  • Google Fonts: supplies the site’s typefaces. Your browser connects to Google to load font files, which exposes technical request information, including your IP address and browser details.

If a mentor needs information to support a consultation or a match you choose to pursue, we share the relevant details for that purpose. We do not publish your form answers or provide them to all mentors.

We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect people, our service, or legal rights. We do not sell information collected through this website or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Cookies, analytics, and tracking choices

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits and understand which parts of the site people use. It does not use cookies. Vercel records anonymized data such as the page visited, referrer, visit time, general location, browser, operating system, and device type. Analytics data is not tied to an individual, customer, or IP address.

Our application does not set advertising cookies and does not include advertising pixels or session-replay tools. Optional social video players may use their own cookies and tracking technologies after you choose to load a video. Before that choice, the gallery displays local thumbnail images without connecting to Instagram or TikTok. Closing the video removes the player; it does not delete any cookies the platform has already set. You can manage those cookies in your browser settings. We use browser session storage to remember when you dismiss the info-session invitation. This preference stays in your browser and is not sent with a registration. Hosting and security services may process technical data or use storage needed to deliver and protect the site.

We do not track your activity across unrelated websites for advertising. The site does not change its behavior in response to a browser’s Do Not Track signal. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, those practices remain off whether or not your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.

When a session is scheduled, its registration link opens Zoom only when you choose it. Zoom handles the details you enter there and its own confirmation and joining instructions. We do not automatically send your website enquiry answers or marketing preferences to Zoom.

External links, including Instagram, Zoom, and university resources, open services with their own privacy practices. Their policies apply when you visit them.

6. Storage, security, and retention

We use private storage and limit access to request records. We keep information while it is needed to handle your enquiry, related follow-up, and any marketing you have requested, and where needed to document consent, resolve issues, or meet legal obligations. If you opt out, we may retain a limited record of that preference so we can honor it. The appropriate period depends on the request, any ongoing relationship, and applicable requirements. You can request deletion using the contact details below.

We use reasonable safeguards, but no website, storage system, or email service can guarantee complete security. Service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

7. Your choices and requests

You can choose not to submit a form, leave the optional support choices and question field blank, or contact us with only the information needed for your enquiry.

Email fatimahhussain@berkeley.edu to ask what information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or ask us to stop contacting you. Send the request from the email address you used when possible. We may need to confirm your identity or your authority to act for a student before sharing or changing a record.

We will respond in accordance with applicable law. Some information may need to be retained for legal or security reasons; if an exception applies, we will explain it. Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional rights, such as access to a copy, portability, objection, restriction, or a complaint to your local privacy regulator.

8. Children and families

We welcome parent enquiries about students of different ages. Students under 13 cannot submit their own enquiries through this website. Before displaying contact fields, the form asks who is completing it and the student’s age range. A student who selects “Under 13” is directed to ask a parent or guardian to get in touch.

For an enquiry about a child under 13, the parent or guardian provides their own name and email and confirms that the contact details are theirs. The form does not collect the child’s name, school, grade, SAT score, service selection, mentor preference, support selections, or a free-text question. Please do not send a child’s personal details by email at this enquiry stage. This enquiry is not consent for us to collect information directly from a child. Any later online service involving a child’s personal information requires a separate review of the appropriate parental notice and consent before that collection begins.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact fatimahhussain@berkeley.edu so we can review and remove it as appropriate. Parents and guardians may contact us about a child’s information, subject to appropriate verification.

9. Changes to this policy

We will post updates on this page and revise the effective date. For a material change affecting information already collected, we will provide a prominent notice on the website and, where appropriate, contact affected people by email. We will obtain additional consent when required before using information for a new purpose.
